Explanation:
Read the excerpt from Story of My Life by Helen Keller. One day, while I was playing with my new doll, Miss Sullivan put my big rag doll into my lap also, spelled "d-o-l-l" and tried to make me understand that "d-o-l-l" applied to both. Earlier in the day we had had a tussle over the words "m-u-g" and "w-a-t-e-r." Miss Sullivan had tried to impress it upon me that "m-u-g" is mug and that "w-a-t-e-r" is water, but I persisted in confounding the two. In despair she had dropped the subject for the time, only to renew it at the first opportunity. I became impatient at her repeated attempts and, seizing the new doll, I dashed it upon the floor. I was keenly delighted when I felt the fragments of the broken doll at my feet. Neither sorrow nor regret followed my passionate outburst. I had not loved the doll. In the still, dark world in which I lived there was no strong sentiment or tenderness. I felt my teacher sweep the fragments to one side of the hearth, and I had a sense of satisfaction that the cause of my discomfort was removed. Which detail from the excerpt is a minor detail that is not necessary in a summary of the excerpt? Miss Sullivan tried to teach Helen the word “doll.” Helen became frustrated when she did not understand. Helen threw the doll on the floor and broke it. Miss Sullivan swept up the pieces of the broken doll.
Answer:

Answer:
The answer on Edg is D : Miss Sullivan swept up the pieces of the broken doll.
Explanation:
It's not an important detail and it's pretty irrelevant to the theme of the excerpt. Therefore, it wouldn't be needed in a summary since it's a minor detail.

In this excerpt, Anne asks Marilla to call her "Cordelia". What does this request reveal about Anne?
Answer:
A. She tries to make her life more interesting.
Explanation:
Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic children's novel "Anne of Green Gables," tells the story of orphaned Anne Shirley and her mistaken 'adoption' to the Cuthberts. The story delves into the life of Anne in navigating her life with the Cuthbert siblings, the town, and in school.
Anne had been 'mistakenly' taken to the Cuthbert family who had expected to adopt a boy to help them in the farm-work. The Cuthbert siblings were reluctant to get a girl orphan, Anne, who, with her own insecurity, dreaded being rejected again. Despite her real name being Anne Shirley, when asked what her name was, she replied "I would love to be called Cordelia. It’s such a perfectly elegant name." This shows how she wanted to infuse 'color' in her life, to make it more interesting.

Racing to Race
Carlo stopped to rest for a minute and tried to catch his breath. He’d been running for so long that he had pains in his side and his legs were beginning to hurt. He hunched over and tried to expand his lungs, but it was like trying to suck air out of a bicycle tire. His body was too exhausted to even allow him to take a deep breath, and he started to wheeze again.
“Great,” he thought, “let me just add asthma to my expanding list of ailments. I can’t believe that I can’t even jog two miles without completely collapsing!” He finally gave in to his aching body and laid down on the grass to recuperate. He closed his eyes and tried to imagine himself running on the school track in the 1,600-meter race. He pictured himself running steadily toward the finish line, running effortlessly like a cheetah in the jungle. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t even hear Meiya approach.
“Hey sleepyhead, what are you doing napping on Sean’s lawn in the middle of the day?” Meiya asked playfully.
Carlo quickly sat up, breathing normally now and feeling a little embarrassed. “I am trying to get in shape to try out for track, but I can’t even run two miles,” he said dejectedly.
“Wait, how many months are you out of surgery? Didn’t you just finish rehab last week?” Meiya asked. “You can’t expect to run two miles the first day.”
It had been six months since Carlo’s surgery and he specifically remembered the doctor telling him he could start running after six months. But he thought about what Meiya had said and realized she had a good point. After his surgery, the doctor did say rehab would be crucial to his recovery but that it would take time for him to gain back full use of his leg. He thought about how a baby had to learn to walk before it could run. He remembered when his nephew was learning to crawl; within days it seemed like he was walking. Running didn’t come right away, Carlo remembered. He realized it was the same with his therapy. The maximum he had run in the past month was one mile on the treadmill, so he realized that Meiya was probably right. He would have to work at building up his endurance and set more realistic goals for himself. As he thought about what he had already accomplished, he started to smile and felt like a weight was being lifted off his shoulders. He realized that he had run almost a mile and a half before his body started to protest and if he kept working hard, he could get back to where he was before his accident.
“Since when did you get so smart, Dr. Meiya?” he teased. “Do you want to race to the next mailbox?”
“You’re on!” she challenged and took off running at full speed.

What is Genealogy? The study of families, genetic predisposition, and indeed the tracing of their ancestries is known as genealogy. Oral interviews, historical documents, genetic testing, and other sources are used by genealogists to learn more about a family and to show the kinship and ancestry of its members.
"Genealogies were used to calculate the population of all of Israel, and lo, they are recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah." (1 Chr. 9:1.) Additionally, local genealogical records that measured persons "by their genealogy in their localities" were kept.
A solid understanding of social and local history sources, both in their original and digital forms, as well as a decent foundational education are prerequisites for genealogical work. Many genealogists have degrees in history or library or archival training. Additionally necessary are some Latin and palaeographic skills.
